General Care
All of our jewellery is made from high quality precious metals. To keep it in the best possible condition, avoid direct contact with water, perfumes, lotions and cosmetics. We recommend removing your jewellery before showering, swimming and exercising.
Store your jewellery pieces individually in the cotton pouch provided to stop them rubbing together and scratching. This will also help limit exposure to direct sunlight which can cause jewellery to dull over time.
Silver and gold are soft metals. This means minor dents and scratches, especially in larger pieces of jewellery, are inevitable. This is not a defect but a sign of normal wear and tear. Over time, scratches will blend into one another and become less visible.
Silver
All of our silver jewellery is stamped with ‘925’. This signifies that it is made from sterling silver.
Our silver pieces are treated with anti-tarnish solution and plated with rhodium, a precious metal from the platinum family. This provides our silver jewellery with added durability and helps prolong its shine.
Naturally, the anti-tarnish treatment and rhodium plating is likely to wear with time. Should your silver jewellery begin to tarnish, use the polishing cloth provided to restore its shine.
Gold vermeil
Our gold vermeil jewellery is made from sterling silver and finished with a thick coat of at least 2.5 microns of 14k or 24k gold. As with any plating, the gold may wear off over time depending on usage and care. A professional jeweller will be able to replate your pieces and restore them to their original condition.
To clean your gold vermeil jewellery, gently buff it with a soft, dry cloth. We do not recommend using polishing cloths that have been treated with chemical agents.
Watches
Glass
Our domed glass is gently curved to minimise shadows and unwanted reflections. Made of hardened mineral glass, it’s resistant against normal wear and tear, but please take the usual care. To clean, we recommend using a microfibre cloth with a touch of cleaning spray.
Battery
Our M01 small and medium size watches use SR521SW batteries and our M01 large size watches use SR621SW batteries. These should last approximately 2 years. Do not replace the battery yourself; a watch repair shop should be able to replace the battery for a small fee.
Water Resistance
Our watches have a resistance of 3ATM, making them suitable for everyday use (resistant to rain and splashes). Direct contact with water should be avoided. The watch should not be worn when showering, bathing, swimming or diving. The ATM rating refers to the watch case; please avoid getting the watch strap wet as this could damage the leather.
Straps
Our stitchless straps are made with full grain Italian leather. The lifespan of your strap partly depends on how it’s used. To extend the lifespan of your strap, protect it from water, perspiration, grease, cosmetics and prolonged exposure to sunlight. We generally recommend changing your strap every 9-12 months.
Warranty
Monofore watches come with a two-year warranty valid from the date of purchase when bought directly from our website or from one of our authorised stockists. Our warranty is limited to coverage against any manufacturing defects; this includes the watch movement, indexes, dial and hands. Other parts are not covered by our warranty. The warranty does not cover general wear and tear, water damage, batteries, straps, loss or theft. A copy of the purchase receipt is required to validate the warranty.
